Good God, this is awesome news! My parents live just a few blocks from here and, since I grew up in New Jersey, the closing of this bridge completely screws any attempt I make at driving around Philly when I venture home because this is really the only way I know how to get anywhere in that town. You wouldn’t believe how lost I got when I tried to drive over it on my way to the racetrack last Christmas only to be reminded that motherfucker was C-L-O-S-E-D!

Seriously. I don’t think I made it even 10 blocks from my parents’ place but I had no idea what I was doing.

It’s embarrassing how inept I am when it comes to vehicularly navigating The City of Brotherly Love*. My parents grew up in Philly, got pregnant with me, moved to the Jersey ‘burbs, packed me off to Emerson “College,” and moved back to Philly. And while I suppose that this move was engineered in order to protect me from some faint and ill-perceived dangers of the city at large, it certainly led to a tedious, boring, and painfully milquetoast childhood. And to not knowing how to drive around Philly. Which kind of sucks. Cause my little brother really knows how to get around and that’s totally embarrassing!

He also — most likely — had a lot more fun in high school.

*Did you know that’s what Philadelphia literally translates to in Latin? The City of Brotherly Love! Don’t even try to tell me that’s not the best name for a city! “We’ll call it ‘New York!’ Ya know, after ‘York!’ Cause ‘York” is such an awesome name for a city to begin with!” C’mon. Get the hell out of here with that! Gimme some good ol’ fashion, pre-Vatican II Latin!

Dear person/persons who got into my car last night,

I really have to call your intelligence/taste into question. When you violated my life by breaking into my car, you went through all of my stuff and only thought that Newsradio-The Complete Series DVD, my iPod cable, and crappy iPhone earbuds were worth stealing? You mean to tell me that you picked up South Park: seasons 11 and 13, AND “Team America”(which were sitting ON TOP of Newsradio in a pile on my back seat…) and thought, “for some reason I only have enough time and strength to steal ONE dvd off this guy’s back seat, and there has been a huge, gaping, whole in my life for years that only Ninety-seven episodes of a show co-starring Andy Dick can fill.” Why not take them all? Was there only enough room in your bindle for one dvd? I just decided to picture you as a bindle-carrying hobo, like this guy:

So, Chester, now that we’ve been formally introduced, I felt that you should know that the joke’s on YOU, Muthafucka, because: those iPhone Earbuds? Speaker’s blown(Surprise!). The iPod cable? Only works half of the time cause it’s got a loose wire in it somewhere. Aaaaand those Newsradio dvds you deemed to be the ONLY truly valuable item in my car? I’ve still got disc one, now you will never know what Dave Nelson’s(portrayed by Dave Foley) first days at WNYX were like, or how Bill McNeal(the late great, Phil Hartman) dealt with the city-wide ban of smoking in public buildings.

The very least you could have done would have been to steal and litter the town with all of my “East of Anything” Stickers you threw all over my car as you rifled through my glove box. I mean c’mon, Chester, my band is trying to make it. Every little bit helps.

So, Chester, I have a few parting words for you, and anyone like you, who thinks it’s acceptable to break into other people’s cars/houses and take/ruin other people’s things: I hope you die. Slowly and painfully. I hope your family abandons you when you need them the most and you live your last days on this earth alone with no one to care for or miss you. You are scum. You deserve nothing, not even the air you’re breathing. Chester, I hope you get AIDS.

This is The Simpsons’ response to the South Park controversy of the last few weeks…and you know what Simpsons? I approve. Even though I may not watch every episode like I used to(…and most weeks I just delete it) I still DVR The Simpsons every week, and I will be watching this episode as soon as I get home today….. After I watch last night’s South Park.

Haven’t heard about the controversy surrounding South Park for the last 2 weeks? Google it. I’m not gonna try and make a statement about it for the simple reason there’s been so much said about it on the web by much smarter people than me… I’ll just say I agree with Jon Stewart’s opinion on the topic: http://tunedin.blogs.time.com/2010/04/23/the-daily-show-defends-south-park/ and leave it at that.

This is a volcano in iceland that has been erupting(going “Boom”, if you will) for the last 10 days… Its melting a shit-ton of ice; which I’m assuming(based on the name of their country) is Iceland’s main source of commerce, entertainment, food, and what have you… I’m sure this will send the entire country into an economic downward spiral that America, with our thriving economy and no problems of our own to worry about, will eventually send aid to help… God Bless America.

Also, the Volcano is called Eyjafjallajokull. I’m serious. As it turns out, in Iceland, they speak “ismashmafingersonthegoddamnkeyboardish”.
